Last fall, I got an inquiry from Sarah, a bride-to-be all the way in Roanoke, Virginia… She had found my website because I had shot a wedding at her venue (Diamond V Farms, which happens to be one of my favorites) the year before. Since having Archer, traveling for weddings has gotten a bit more complicated, and I’ve had to say no more than yes. Thankfully, Aaron’s family lives less than an hour away from where Sarah and Justin got married, so I was able to travel for this one and leave the sweet baby with the in-laws. They didn’t hate it. :)
I instantly felt a connection with Sarah (yes, through email) because she introduced herself and Justin by telling me how much they love the Lord and wanted their wedding to portray that love. Between that and knowing they had picked Diamond V, I was hooked, so it was just a bonus also finding out that they were semi-high school sweethearts. (Justin was a freshman in college, but Sarah was in high school… It counts, okay?!) Anyone that’s read my blog for any length of time knows that high school sweethearts are my favorite. :)
I’m always a little nervous going into a wedding when I haven’t met or worked with the couple during an engagement session prior to the wedding. Will they like me? Will we click? Will we work well together? Will I feel awkward and feel the stupid need to over-compensate with weird jokes? Thankfully, Sarah and Justin were SO welcoming to me on their wedding day. After about 10 minutes of being with them, their friends, and family, I was ready to be adopted into their bridal party!
Their day was filled with such joy, a lot of happy tears, and Jesus was written all over it. What a perfect combination! Here are my favorites (there’s a lot) from the day!
Being that pastels and garden roses are my favorites, I was swooning over Sarah’s bouquet.
Men, take note: You can never go wrong with gifting your wife with a little blue box on your wedding day… Or any day for that matter.
Get ready for my favorite first look of all time.
This is why I always, always have a second shooter with me.
LOVE.
If you see this picture all over everything of mine for the rest of your life, it’s because it’s one of my favorite images I’ve ever captured.
Such a sweet moment with her dad. :)
See why Diamond V wins? And that arbor?! Are you kidding me?!
I love that they took time during the ceremony to wash each other’s feet as a symbol of their commitment to serve Christ as they serve one another.
I loved all of the details that they incorporated into their decor for the ceremony and reception!
What’s better than cake? Cake AND cake pops. Yes.
I make it no secret that couples who let me steal them away from their reception for a few more minutes of portraits are my favorite couples of all.
Congrats, Mr. & Mrs. Williams!!!
