For the past week, I have been shamelessly listening to Taylor Swift’s new album Speak Now. Even though she’s not the most incredible vocalist in the world, I just really love her music. So real, honest, vulnerable… And hateful. Haha. I have recently nicknamed her ‘Bitter Betsy’, which I feel is appropriate after listening to her new album incessantly for the past week. Don’t be offended, Taylor. We’re all Betsy’s at one point or another. Anyways…

When I was on my way to an engagement shoot last weekend, I was obviously listening to T. Swift. The last song that was playing when I got out of the car was ‘Dear John’. I met this awesome couple, Lee & Miranda, and we began shooting. Probably about five minutes into the shoot, I caught myself calling Lee ‘John’. Hmmm… That’s weird. I felt really bad, apologized and we kept shooting. A few minutes later, I called him ‘John’ again. What the heck, Kelsey?? Pull it together! And then again, again and AGAIN, I kept calling him ‘John’. I felt terrible. Never had I messed up client’s names like this, and I had no idea what was wrong with me. Then I realized it – Miss Swift’s ‘Dear John’ was still in my head. When I finally realized all this, we were able to have a good laugh. Lee/John… Thanks for answering to both and understanding my brain’s malfunction. :)

Lee and Miranda have been together for two years and are getting married on June 18, 2011. They were SO natural in front of the camera, and I seriously had such a great time shooting them. Not to mention the INCREDIBLE fall leaves. Are you kidding me, Lynchburg?? You’re killing me with these colors! I realize I say this all of the time, but this was one of my favorite shoots EVER!

Without further ado… Lee/John & Miranda :)

Lee is so sweet to Miranda. You can see it in this series…

They throw their hands up in air sometimes…

favorite, favorite, FAVORITE!!!

Hey Miranda… You’re gorge. Don’t judge me and my lingo.

Favorite #2

Lee and Miranda, thanks so much for being cute for me. Ya’ll are the bomb.com!

Xanga. You remember it. Surely you do. Xanga was before Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and even Myspace. It was probably before something else too, but Xanga was my first real exposure to social networking… If you can count it as that. Anyways, unlike most of my smart friends, I never deleted my Xanga. No, I will not link it. That would be far too embarrassing. This post is about to be embarrassing enough. Today, I decided that I would reminisce and read some of my old Xanga posts. Mistake? The jury’s still out on that one. For the sake of being real, I’ve decided to share some of my Xanga with you, Internet.

Commonly Used Phrases:

  • Gotta bounce!!! Oh geeze, 15 year-old me… Gotta bounce?! Really?
  • OH MI GOSH!!! Yes, always in caps and always spelled wrong.
  • Ergggggg!!! ;) Flirty pirate?? I really wish I knew.
  • I was like woaaaaa! Were you?
  • Later on… …what??
  • I lOvE jEsUs!!! Yes, I was one of those…
  • -xoxo- Kelsey Shortower

Internet, I encourage you to bust out your old Xanga, if you have one. Or maybe your Myspace. Or maybe even just find that old journal that you used to write your deepest darkest secrets in. It will be a great reminder to you: You’re never as cool as you think you are. Happy Thursday, Internet.

Over my fall break, I decided to visit some of my besties in Atlanta, GA instead of going home to Actionville. I was so very thankful to get to have some quality time with my friend, Crimson, who I hadn’t seen in over five months. (Btw… Crimson is like my identical twin. No, we were not born on the same day. No, we don’t look alike. But we are pretty much the same person. Its actually pretty freaky.) That weekend, Crimson also had another visitor… her precious little niece Rilynn. When there is cuteness, preciousness and a camera, you better believe I’ll be taking some pictures.

Prior to this, I had never taken pictures of a baby. Holy cow. It is not an easy task. I have now developed a new appreciation for photographers who specialize in photography for children. Thankfully, Rilynn was a great little guinea-pig. Is that weird to call a baby a guinea-pig? I don’t mean it in a bad way. I love guinea-pigs. I used to have one… His name was Mr. Pickles. Here are my favorites from our “session” (aka time in the backyard). Watch out Jason and Emily. Ya’lls little girl is gonna be a rock star. :)

Every time I see this picture, I think of the first two seconds of “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough”. Makes me laugh… Haha.

If you can look at this series without smiling, you have no heart.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE baby rolls!! They are the best! Sidenote: When I was a baby, my mom used to call my the Michelin Man cause I had so many rolls. True story.

Normally, I would write a comment like, “Are you kidding me, Rilynn?? How are you so adorable??” But she will probably never read this blog post. So great job, Jason and Emily. She’s unbelievably adorable.

Needless to say, Rilynn is a pretty big Bama fan.
