Remember last week when I said I was gonna be back on track with blogging? Shocker… I didn’t really, but that’s only because I’ve been super distracted by the amazing, sparkly diamond on my left hand! Yes, I am engaged, and I only had a week of planning with my fiance, Aaron, before he moved to Arkansas. (All of that is another post for another day.) If that’s not good reason for a blog absence, I don’t know what is. :)

I’m so excited to finally share this beautiful wedding with you, Internet. I was so lucky to be able to shoot two destination weddings in the Outer Banks this summer… Both brides Canadian. I mean, really… What are the chances? :) I have never attended or shot such an emotional wedding. There were so many times that I had to tell myself to pull it together, so I could actually get shots that were in focus. I just love couples who are not afraid of conveying their love for one another through emotion… Joey & Ana, I was so blessed to be a part of yall’s day. :)

Another reason that I loved this wedding so so so so much is that I had over an hour to shoot bride & groom portraits. And HOLY COW. The Elizabethan Gardens where they got married was, without a doubt, my favorite ceremony venue that I’ve ever shot. The gardens are to die for and were seriously rocking my world the whole day. I know I’ve said it before (and I’ll go to my grave sounding like a broken record)… If you’re getting married, give your photographer a decent amount of time for pictures. I have never heard a bride wish she hadn’t spent so much time on pictures, but I constantly hear brides AND grooms regretting that they didn’t give their photographer more time. Okay… Off my soapbox. :) Here are some of my favorites from the day…

I could not get enough of this adorable little ring bearer. :)

Joey and all of his men wore grey Vans. WIN.

Favorite #1.

Ana was just the epitome of a fun, elegant bride.

Her dress fit her personality so well.

A little foreshadowing…

I love personalized hangers… So fun! :)

See what I’m saying? Just regal…

A sweet moment with her dad before the ceremony…

I LOVE what the ring bearer carried down the aisle before Ana’s entrance.

So much love in these next photos…

Favorite #2.

Husband & Wife!!!!

Gardens are cool.

Favorite #3.

Favorite #4.

Seriously, this is the point where I was DYING. Best. Venue. Ever.

I love dancing.

After some dinner & dancing at their reception, Joey & Ana gave me even more time for some sunset pictures by the lighthouse.

Told you they’re awesome. :)

Someone put these people in a magazine. Sheesh.

Ana, even though I saw you for 8 hours that day and have seen for about 12 more hours from editing, I still can’t get over how gorgeous you are…

Favorite #5.

Favorite #whatever… I lost count cause they’re just so dang good looking together!

Congratulations, ya’ll!

Prepare to meet one of the most adorable, sweet, and precious little baby in the whole wide world: Baby Noah. :) This summer, I was in Lynchburg hanging out with Noah’s mom, and I just so happened to have my camera with me… Naturally, we decided to see if precious little Noah wanted to do some modeling for me, and good news for me… He was just a blast to photograph. I couldn’t get enough of his smiles, adorable expressions, and flippin’ blue eyes. I don’t even know how I would pick a favorite… They’re all my favorites. :)

This picture makes me smile BIG. Check out those eyes. :)

This kid is a HEART.BREAKER.

He’s nice a chunky too… Which is how all babies should be.

Side note: When I was a baby, my mom called me the Michelan Man cause I had so many rolls.

Happy Weekend, Internet! :)

Besides my education, my favorite thing about my time at Liberty is the people that I met there. One of those people is Kayla, or Kays, or “love monkey” (it’s a long story… don’t ask). I met Kayla my first day at Liberty because she lived across the hall and one door to the left from me. We quickly bonded over our New Testament class with Dr. Love through our use of RIDICULOUS hand-motions to memorize themes for each NT book. Yeah, we were super cool.

I remember the day she told me about a guy back home that she liked and had been praying for for years. In March 2008 of that same school year, Kayla & Ben began dating. The next fall I had my very first, official, but unpaid photoshoot. I can’t remember if I asked them if I could take some pictures or if they asked me. Either way, this was one of the very first pictures I remember being proud of… One that inspired me to take more.

No, your eyes are not fooling you. That is the font ‘scriptina’ in hot pink. Yes, I am ashamed. And you’re probably thinking, “What is so great about that picture?” Well, for a girl who had just gotten a DSLR and had only messed around with it in the dorm prior to this, I thought I did pretty good. And I dubbed this picture the “Crest Whitestrips” picture. In July 2009, Kayla & Ben, or “Bayla”, got engaged and set a date for January 9, 2010. That fall, I got to shoot their engagement session…

Yep, there’s that horrid “logo” again. Bayla, ya’ll have been and will always be beautiful, but I think its safe to say that the world can rejoice knowing that my editing style, or lack thereof, has completely changed.

Well, the exciting news is that Kayla and Ben are expecting their first little baby any day now. (Kays is obviously hoping sooner than later.) I know that baby Levi is going to be one of the most loved little boys on the face of the planet, and I have no doubt that Ben and Kayla will be incredible parents… They are truly some of the godliest people I know. I am so glad that I was able to capture some pictures of Kayla while she was carrying little Levi, and I really can’t wait to snap some pictures of the little love monkey when he makes his grand entrance to the world. :)

Kayla is one of those people who doesn’t look pregnant from the back… I realize that I can’t really relate, but I think its safe that my future self would scream “NOT FAIR!” Seriously… She’s a stunner and a half.

Preggo model, huh?

Baby Leves hangin’ with some leaves. You know that was funny, internet.

Ben joined us about half-way through. These people are so in love with each other that its just ridiculous… In a precious kind of way. :)

One hott baby mama. ;)

Just one of the many reasons I love them. Remember “Crest Whitestrips”? I call this “Flying Squirrel”.

fav.

Hey there, little Levi. :)

Can’t wait to meet you baby Levi. You are one lucky kid to be born into such an amazing family. :)
